MECHANICAL CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
This aspect of CST aims to restore the movement between the bones in the skull (cranial bones), sacrum and dura mater (connective tissue around the brain, spinal cord and anchoring onto sacrum). According to the biomechanical model, each bone has an optimal motion which, if hindered can lead to many negative symptoms- see symptom list on the “treatments” page. Using hands-on techniques, the movement of and between the cranial bones and sacrum are assessed and treated in order to relieve symptoms.
Furthermore, the connection between the cranial bones and the sacrum is via the dura mater, the connective tissue that is within the cranial bones, surrounding the brain, continuing downwards around the spinal cord, and attaching to the 2nd sacral segment (craniosacral system), enveloping the central nervous system (CNS). Cerebrospinal fluid is found within the dura mater and when flowing freely, acts to lubricate the brain and spinal canal, bringing blood flow and nutrients to the CNS.
The dura mater creates a relationship between the cranium and sacrum so that a restriction in this system will impact other areas along this chain. Biomechanical CST aims to synchronize the movements throughout this craniosacral system which may, in turn, have an impact that may be experienced anywhere on the body.

BIODYNAMIC CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
This therapy focuses on the fluid system of the body. It is said that within this fluid is your body’s “knowing of health”, or the place wherein the memory of your body’s wellness is stored. With gentle hands, this treatment aims to restore the fluidity of your tissues throughout the body in order to restore your body back to its optimal level of health. Furthermore, it helps to bring the mind, body and spirit back into a dynamic balance that may be experienced by a deep state of relaxation.

VISCERAL MANIPULATION
These techniques involve remolding and adjusting the position of the internal organs in the body, such as lungs, heart, intestines, liver, kidneys, bladder and reproductive organs. The position and form of each organ is determined by the function of the organs; but if the organ is not in the optimal place, it will not function at its best. This can be experienced as organ dysfunction, nerve irritation, or back pain, to name a few.

FASCIAL RELEASE
Fascia is connective tissue that is found everywhere in your body: around muscles and muscle fibers, around organs and groups of organs, around nerves and the nervous systems, as well as around bones and joints.
Fascia holds memory: it maintains the shape of your posture; it holds the tissues in the shape of an injury; and it holds onto emotional experiences.

TREATMENTS
WHAT TO EXPECT
Clients are treated clothed, usually on their backs. Normally, I will start at the feet (my listening post) from where I can not only establish a connection with the client, but be guided to a primary area of the body’s dis-ease needing attention. With gentle hands, I move to this area of restriction and wait in stillness for your body’s healing capabilities to initiate change within the tissues. I then move my hands to the next area of the body that requires attention. In doing so, a sense of deep relaxation and calm comes over the body.
While I will focus on the symptomatic areas, I will also work over other parts of the body that I perceive to be contributing to the client’s symptoms.
SYMPTOMS
The range of signs and symptoms that can be addressed through this work is diverse; below are just some of the common complaints:
HEADACHES/MIGRAINES JOINT PAINS AND SPRAINS DIGESTIVE DISORDERS
CONCUSSIONS MUSCLE STRAINS UROGENITAL DYSFUNCTION
HEAD INJURIES SPINAL MIS-ALIGNMENT BREAST FEEDING ISSUES
NERVE DISORDERS DIZZINESS/VERTIGO RINGING IN EARS
BLURRED VISION SINUS PROBLEMS PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION
ACID REFLUX BREATHING CONDITIONS PREGNANCY
JAW DISORDERS-TMJ EMOTIONAL TRAUMA BIRTH TRAUMA/COLIC
CHRONIC CONDITIONS ENERGETIC TRAUMA CHAKRA BLOCKS
