ABOUT SUZANNE BAKER
Suzanne received an honour’s degree in kinesiology and athletic injuries, followed by a degree in physiotherapy from the University of Western Ontario. She followed up with a license in anatomical acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada. In 1999, she moved to Vancouver to be near the mountains and ocean.
Suzanne worked as a sports physiotherapist in Deep Cove and at Capilano College in Vancouver, while a volunteer teacher with the Whistler Adaptive Ski Program on weekends. Because of her passion for teaching adaptive skiing, Suzanne moved to whistler where she worked at Advanced Sports Physiotherapy, while teaching skiers and training other adaptive instructors.
Early on, Suzanne had the sense that the body had a capacity and wisdom to heal in ways that had not been taught in her classical training. After being introduced to Craniosacral Therapy (CST), she intensely studied this healing form with Claudia Scrivener on Bowen Island and integrated CST into her physio practice at the clinic.
Suzanne started her own private practice in 2002, where she transitioned from physiotherapy to a craniosacral practice.
Since then, Suzanne has had the fortune of studying with some very influential mentors: Bruno Ducoux, osteopath from France;
Pau Dalmau, director of the Barcelona School of Osteopathy; Howard Jones, Craniosacral Therapist and Physiotherapist, with whom Suzanne taught craniosacral courses for several years; and many other Osteopaths and Craniosacral Therapists from around the world. Suzanne's greatest teachers over the years, however, have been her clients, who are constantly teaching her about the body's capacity for healing.
